Acupuncture

The history Acupuncture

Acupuncture is probably the most well known form of Alternative therapy in Australia. It was developed in China over 5000 years ago and has established a solid foundation within the west for quite a long time. It is quite easy to find news articles these days that say there is some scientific proof that acupuncture has a positive action on healing within the human body.

There are many variations of acupuncture, such as laser acupuncture, but all acupuncturists use the yin/yang philosophy in conjunction with the law of the five elements : the cycles of nature, pulse and herbal treatment.

Chi consists of equal and opposite qualities - Yin and Yang - and when these become unbalanced, illness may result. Acupuncture, like other Natural therapies, seeks to correct imbalances rather than just treat symptoms; its roots however, come from Chinese philosophy.

What should I expect in an Acupuncture session?

Acupuncture is used to describe the insertion of fine needles into the skin at specific points that lie along pathways in the body called meridians. These points stimulate the flow of energy or chi (pronounced "chee") in the body, and are chosen according to the person's overall pattern of disharmony. Thesedays there has been a great deal of research and development of Acupuncture and there are some new methods of treatment available such as laser Acupuncture.

Acupuncture came about when Chinese practitioners studied and mapped out the human body’s energy meridians. These days, the original meridians are used, only enhanced and proven by 21 st century technology.
