Homeopathy
Where does Homeopathy come from?
Homeopathic medicine is based on the work of the German physician and chemist Samuel Hahnemann. It aims to stimulate the individual's natural healing processes through the administration of minute "homeopathic" dilutions of specific remedies. The word “Homeopathy” is derived from the Greek words homeo, meaning same, and pathos, meaning suffering. The philosophy of Homeopathy is based on treating "like with like".
How does this treatment work?
Homeopathy is prepared from natural substances that can be found anywhere on the earth. Some homeopathics are derived from plants, minerals or animals, such as venom, tree sap or even coffee.
The patient describes his or her symptoms in detail to the Homeopath, giving details of both physical and psychological symptoms. This procedure is called a “proving”. The practitioner then prescribes very small, nontoxic doses of a selected substance. The mystery still remains how such a substance, scientifically containing physically nothing of the original substance, can cure patients.
Homeopathy is rapidly becoming acknowledged as a safe and effective treatment and is being used all over the world. The manufacture and sale of homeopathic medicines are sold in Chemists by the company Brauer. Alternatively they can be prepared by hand by your Naturopath, homeopath or other complementary therapists.
What conditions can Homeopathy help?
Homeopathy can help a wide variety of health concerns or complains. They can be used as a treatment for acute pain or infection. These are generally the forms that are sold in chemists for children's teething preparations or hay fever sprays. They can also be prescribed for a huge range of health issues such as cravings or emotional stress from your local alternative therapist.
Since this treatment acts on so many levels and helps a huge number of conditions, it is recommended to consult a professional Homeopath to find the correct remedy for your specific condition.
