Kinesiology

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology was originally developed by a chiropractor in the 1960's and has since been incorporated into the practice of many disciplines, including naturopathy, massage and psychology. The practice has spread throughout the world and there is an abundance of literature available on this topic.

Kinesiology is the study and therapy of muscles and muscular movement. Our bodies are regarded as being the storehouse of our life memories. From conception to where we are now is all stored within our bodies and within our muscles and kinesiology aims to find these memories.

On a very deep and subtle level the muscles have a memory of our life and this type of healing uses muscle tests to locate specific weaknesses or responses in our bodies, which may be caused by food allergies, emotional stress, physical stress or vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

How does this treatment heal?

The theory of kinesiology considers that the body can only acknowledge truth. Where our mind may hide or forget past memories, our body cannot. Using this theory, truth creates a positive impulse resulting in muscle integrity and strength, whereas that which is untrue creates the opposite effect. In this sense, when a question is put to the body that would solicit a yes or no answer, the body reacts in such a way. The Kinesiologist is trained to read these signals and muscle responses in order to identify the causes or reasons for the illness, stress, allergy or general weakness.

The body is also comprised of a complex network of interconnective nerves, in a matrix throughout our body. When any part of our body is affected by anything, the whole feels that effect. The kinesiologist understands this interconnectedness and uses this knowledge to help with the diagnosis.
